Last week I condensed Day 1 of the 2019 IIN Transform Health Conference.

Describes herself as more of a mystic than an MD. Working with patients who experience spontaneous remissions https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spontaneous_remission led her to a much more adventurous and holistic study of healing than is the norm. She travels all over the world to experience medicine from healers of different cultures. As a result of these experiences she emphasizes emotional, psychological & spiritual healing. On Sunday she also talked about Internal Family Systems , and how it can be used to treat trauma and sickness. Main fascinating takeaways included that life is a process of learning what we can and can’t control, that some things in life want to remain a mystery, and that the more we can make peace with our own conflicting internal parts the more joy and good health we will experience as a result.

Founder of Mama Glow, is dedicated to transforming our modern healthcare system for women & babies. Mama Glow is her response to the fact that the infant mortality rate for all US women is much higher compared to other developed countries, and especially effects US women of color. Mama Glow trains dulas and assists women to reclaim the ritual of childbirth and fully glean the wisdom and benefits that come with it.
Pilar came back & introduced us to ultradian rhythms. She explained the importance of taking 20 minute breaks throughout the day in order to balance out the fatigue and stress of being productive. This simulates the cyclical and wave like patterns that occur in nature and allows our bodies to self regulate and avoid burnout.
